Coffee + Comforting Breakfast Sandwiches Near the Bethesda Metro
There’s a cafe in the area just above the Bethesda Metro station, where you can enjoy fresh focaccia breakfast sandwiches every morning with a cup of coffee, in an airy light-filled space.
A neighborhood favorite originally from Arlington: Simona Cafe (4520 East-West Hwy), opened in Bethesda over the summer, and is known for its coffee menu built around house-made bread, specialty drinks, and a variety of enticing pastries.
If you’re exploring new cafes in the area this spot fits right into downtown’s growing coffee scene.

The space is bright and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a patio area with tables to work from, and plenty of direct natural light inside to settle in for a few hours without feeling stuck between four walls.

They source their beans locally in the DMV from Rare Bird, the coffee menu and pastries rotate throughout the months with new seasonal twists, and their sandwiches and other bites are what you’d want if you’re stopping by during the day.
That said (at the time of writing), their 50% off wine bottles during happy hour 3PM–6:30PM daily, is a reason to visit on its own!
Making Simona Cafe not only a solid breakfast spot in downtown Bethesda, but also a new neighborhood hangout to unwind after a long day.
